INTERIOR DESIGN – FIRST, I THINK IT
When I meet a client one of their first questions is, “What color should I paint my walls?” But, in fact, that is one of the last recommendations I consider. My first thoughts are about how I will guide the client through the design process with the objective being the realization of an interior that mirrors their style. During the course of our relationship we talk about many ideas and products they want to include in their project, but the goal is really about reflecting the client’s current or future lifestyle. Whether they are browsing through the latest contemporary interior magazine or reading a book on Tuscany, clients are attracted to the possibility that they could experience the same sense of inspiration in their daily lives through the spaces they live in.

The process of creating an interior concept begins with my initial thoughts and personal reactions to the space, circulation, primary focus and the use of certain objects, colors, finishes, textures or lighting. These items are integral parts of a canvas that expands and changes as the concept develops. It is with these initial thoughts that an abstract idea starts to mature. In this context the Interior Designer is creating artwork of the interior space with their clients. It is only with this thoughtful purpose, supported through continual education and experience, am I able to assist the client in the development of a style concept wholly encompassing their needs. First, I think it.
